Today, Sunday 8th March is International Women’s Day.
This very important day celebrates women and promotes women’s rights. It began in 1911, when women in America, England, Germany and other counties fought for the right to vote.
Unfortunately, in many places around the world women still are not seen as equal to men;in some jobs, women get paid less than men; in some countries, girls are not given an education; in some places women are still not allowed to vote.
In honour of this day, read about Emmeline Pankhurst, a woman who have campaigned tirelessly for women’s right to vote in England.
